In this blog I will share the history of GLOs and other topics. I didn’t realize that I would end up feeling at home at one of the chapters. My roommate suggested I sign up for rush (as it was then called, today it’s known as recruitment) and go through the house tour round and then drop out of rush. ![]() When I made my way to Syracuse University, I saw the houses with the Greek letters that edged Walnut Park, and wished I could tour them. ![]() I am sure I would have agreed with them, too. I was the last person anyone would have suspected of joining a sorority in college. Welcome! Chances are good you found this blog by searching for something about fraternities or sororities. Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded in 1901 on the campus of Richmond College (now called the University of Richmond) in Richmond, Va. As members of both Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Texas A&M University, we are also deeply committed to the Aggie Core. They are among the more than 360,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since 1901. The mission of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in The True Gentleman. Around 12,000 SigEp undergraduates are on nearly 200 college campuses each year. Since then, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest fraternities in the country. Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) was founded on November 1, 1901, at Richmond College, now the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Va. Members learn to live their best lives through unique, rewarding programming tailored to fit their needs and prepare them for the journey of life ahead. The BMP offers an experience focused on scholarship, leadership, professional development and life skills. SigEp believes the stereotypical fraternity experience does not fulfill the needs of today’s college male. SigEp revolutionized the fraternity movement in 1991 by unveiling the Balanced Man Program (BMP), a concept of single-tiered membership and continuous development that begins the day a brother joins. Through SigEp, men strengthen their character, build leadership and interpersonal skills, and learn to develop healthy, lifelong relationships that are essential to a successful and fulfilling life. We complement a man’s education by delivering a premier student experience in one of the most formative times of his life. ![]() SigEp is redefining fraternity on college campuses across the country.
